Updated for Spring 2026: The meta hasn’t changed! These are still the undefeated heavyweights of my VR fitness routine.
Let’s be real: fitness shouldn’t be a “grind.” It should be fun. As a gamer, I’d rather spend 30 minutes getting “ganked” in League of Legends than 30 minutes on a treadmill. The “a-ha” moment for me was realizing I could get a killer workout that felt like playing a game. I went on a quest to find the best VR fitness games that make you forget you’re even working out.

Here are my top 5 games that make me forget I’m even working out.
1. Les Mills Bodycombat

This is my all-time favorite and my “main” game. It’s not just a rhythm game; it’s a full-on, high-intensity cardio workout led by real martial arts coaches. You’re squatting, punching, and kneeing in time to high-energy music. If you want a workout that feels like a real workout, this is it.
2. Synth Riders

This was my first VR fitness love. If Beat Saber is about slashing, Synth Riders is about flowing. You’re hitting notes, but you’re also following “rails” with your hands, which forces you into a full-body dance. It’s the perfect warm-up, cool-down, or a fun, low-impact “rest day” game.
3. Creed: Rise to Glory

Want to feel like you’ve been in a real fight? Play this. This isn’t a rhythm game; it’s a boxing simulation. You’ll be dodging, weaving, and throwing punches as hard as you can. Your arms and shoulders will be jelly the next day. It’s the ultimate “boss battle” workout.
4. Box to the Beat

This is a newer favorite of mine and a bit of a hidden gem. It’s pure rhythmic boxing. It’s less “gamey” than Creed and more focused on flow and hitting combos. It has a high-energy, arcade-like feel that just makes you want to keep going for one more song.
5. Beat Saber

You can’t have a VR list without Beat Saber. It’s the “OG” and still one of the best. While it’s often seen as just a rhythm game, put on “Expert” or “Expert+” mode with 360-degree levels, and you’ll be dripping sweat. It’s pure, unadulterated fun.

Track Your “Stats” in Every Game
The best part of “gamified” fitness? Seeing your stats go up.
I created the VR Fitness Tracking Journal for exactly this reason. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing Les Mills or Beat Saber—logging your time and how you feel makes your progress tangible. It’s the perfect tool to keep you motivated and on your quest.

I’ve only tried VR workouts a few times, but this post makes me want to jump back in. These games sound way more fun than running or the gym. Honestly might recommend this to a few friends trying to burn some fat. Thanks for the push! 🙌
Extremely fun, you gotta try them!
